2006/2007 Events:
SakuraFest - Sunday, April 15, 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM at International
Lounge (BCC)
*** SakuraFest! SakuraFest is the largest event organized by RONS, and also co-sponsored by JCA, every year. At SakuraFest, RONS celebrates the Japanese sakura matsuri at Rutgers by providing a number of booths (and prizes!), events, performances, and food free of charge to our guests. The booths include a variety of traditional Japanese games, arts and crafts (such as calligraphy), and fittings of traditional Japanese clothing. Our exciting events and performances involve things like taiko drum demonstrations and tutorials, martial arts demonstrations, and traditional dances performed by RONS. All are welcome to come, so please come celebrate with us!
KaraokeFest - Thursday, November 9, 7:00 PM at International
Lounge (BCC)
*** Our annual KaraokeFest will be held on Thursday, November 9. Come see the
latest incarnation of the legendary RONS band open up the night with a performance,
and then sing your heart out in front of an audience as much as you want, for
a small entrance fee! Traditionally the karaoke machines have had a large variety
of English songs, but this year, we will also try to include a number of Japanese
songs as well.

Sushi Workshop - November (?)
*** Based upon the success of our first Sushi Workshop last fall, we have decided
to do it again this year. Last year, we brought ingredients to make sushi to
Murray 212 on a Saturday afternoon and, for a $5 fee, everyone who came was
allowed to make as much sushi as they could eat. Come to learn about the origin
of sushi, and, of course, to enjoy sushi made with your own two hands! The precise
date and location for this year's Sushi Workshop is forthcoming.
Halloween Party - Saturday, October 28, 8:30 PM at Zuri's
place (Bartlett) (CAC)
*** This year's annual Halloween party will be held at Zuri's house on Bartlett
street. We will discuss the details of the party at the meeting, but for now,
assume that we will meet around 8:30 PM in from of the Student Center (on College
Ave) and walk to Zuri's house from there. It is sort of apotluck thing, which
means that we hope everyone can bring something to eat. It can be something
small even, as long as everyone brings something, there should be enough :)
Field Day - Saturday, September 30, 11:00 AM at Buccleuch
Park (CAC)
*** We will have our annual Field Day on Saturday, September 30 starting sometime
in the morning. Field Day is an activity where RONS divides into a few teams
that compete against each other for glory and honor on the plains of Buccleuch
Park. Teams are tasked by such grueling and epic challenges as Egg Racing, Three-Legged
Racing, the patented RONS Obstacle Course, kickball, dodgeball, babies juggling
clowns on a unicycle, and basketball. The winner of the event wins eternal glory
and fame in the annals of RONS history before everyone forgets who won the next
day. It is a fun event, possibly involving a picnic, and a good way to play
around in a setting outside of RONS. We hope you can come :)
NYC Karaoke Trip - Saturday, September 23, 10:00 AM at
New Brunswick Train Station
*** We will be taking advantage of the free ticket survey sponsored by NJ Transit
to take a trip to NYC this Saturday. We plan to meet at New Brunswick Train
Station at 10:00 AM to get the 10:26 AM train to NYC. We want to get there early
so we can enjoy a takoyaki lunch/picnic before setting off to go to karaoke,
perhaps visit various shops, and enjoy dinner at K-town. Everyone is welcome
to join! However, if you would like to go with our group, please e-mail us by
Wednesday, September 20, so we can make reservations for karaoke.
