Recognizing And Celebrating Ethnicities
is an annual celebration of culture that consists of various
performances of cultural dance, music, poetry, etc. R.A.C.E.
also provides explanations of cultural rituals, displays
of costumes and artifacts and cultural food. On March 9th,
1994, the Amazona Chapter of Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority,
Inc. held the first R.A.C.E program. For over 10 years,
this event has upheld our multicultural tradition while
promoting diversity and a deeper understanding of cultures,
as well as challenging stereotypes throughout the university
and community. R.A.C.E. provides an exposure of different
cultures in a fun and diverse atmosphere. The audience frequently
exceeds 400 people from different organizations on campus,
including Greek organizations, faculty, staff, administration,
students and the local community. R.A.C.E. continues to
grow in popularity and is widely known all over the university,
and has even become recognized by Rutgers University as
a program which implements the university’s multicultural
blueprint. It is now also held at other chapters of Mu Sigma
Upsilon Sorority, Inc. The Amazona Chapter takes great pride
in this event and we look forward to celebrating R.A.C.E.
each spring. We invite you to celebrate diversity with us.
