Michael Liska

i understand you must be tired of drawing nourishment from the
air and soil, growing poison berries from your fingertips, and
crying all the time over love affairs with monkeys and other
beasts who urinate at your feet until no one else will come near.

i understand that in a perfect universe you and your tiny hands
would have been placed in the sunlight somewhere out of sight
and hurt to wait for the rain to come and bring you to a beautiful
screaming climax.
