The Bugs Are Gone

Roy F. Barrows

I watch the feet
of a party,
not that you learn
anything from feet.

I believe the faces
are happy--
I check them at times
to make sure.

Once we played statuses
on the lawn
and caught bugs until dark
and then watched TV.

I watch the feet
as they dance--
but no one yells
freeze,
and the bugs dance
against the screen.
