Carmen for the East Coast

Tobyn DeMarco

	I look to the West
I see the sun give itself to the earth.
Endless land to run into endless welkin.
I see plain, plateau, and peaks.

	I look to the East
I see the sun swell.
Water blue meet, skye blue.
I see jagged liquid, 'nother universe of life.

	When I look South
I smell sun baked grass
The sun shadow halos the heavens.
Heat headaches life - lazy, dreary.

	When I look North
Polaris reigns in his perpetual seat.
Aurora gleams, the breath vapors.
Crisp thought, clear, clarity, cold.
