Interloper tempers my cynicism, so nouveau-millenial,
Renders our rendezvous multi-perennial.
Interloper sews my wild oats;
Now me and my interloper sip root beer floats
At Sock Hop Diner-me in a poodle skirt,
She as John Travolta. What revolting dirt,
My interloper! I'm a starry-eyed lover, how blasé!
Mark me when I say
You've reduced me to rhyming feet
(Not the meter, I'm not that beat.)
Just look at this shlocky, Hallmark verse…

I'll keep it terse, my interloper. I've loved it all. Really. And I want more…

Since we must settle the score, let's do this:
Come and give me a soft and lovely kiss

		…that I like so well.
