HSC Mission Statement

HSC derives its inspiration from the Santana (eternal) Dharma. The vision of HSC emerges from great realizations like:

  • Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - the entire creation is one family
  • Ekam Sat Viprah Bahudha Vadanti - Truth is one, sages call it by various names
  • Sarve Api Sukhina Santu Sarve Santu Niramayah - let everybody be happy, healthy, and blessed
These ideals promote peace, progress, and harmony in the world. HSC derives its inspiration from Sanatana Hindu Dharma, the Eternal & Universal Principles of Life.

HSC's Mission is:
  1. to promote a greater understanding of universal values as well as the nature of the Hindu System and heritage
  2. to address issues affecting Hindus
  3. to serve through social action and volunteerism
Hindu heritage can assist individuals in their quest for Self and the pursuit of excellence. We accomplish our mission by developing an extended network and by creating awareness about the universal ideals of Hindu Dharma. HSC also strives to raise awareness about social, environmental, political and religious issues affecting us. Furthermore, it provides support and guidance to its members through networking.

The Gayatri Mantra

Om, Bhoor, Bhu va ha, Swa ha
Tat sa, Vi tur, Va ren yum
Bhar go, De va sya, Dhee ma hi
Dhi yo, Yo nah, Pra cho, Da yaat

The mantra is in praise of Gatatri Devi, invoking her help. She represents all three shaktis' and thus one can ask for knowledge/music (saraswati), wealth/prosperity/luck (lakshmi), and strength/courage (parvathi). The mantra was composed by Vishwamitra one day in the woods when he wished to pull the power of the goddesses in order to defeat his arch nemesis Vashista.
