Wednesday night was back to cold and rainy (good thing the excursion was on the one clear and sunny day of the trip!), so Adam, Brant, and I looked for something inside to do. We settled on visiting the Saga Museum (web site) inside the Perlan. The Perlan (or Pearl) is a huge bubble shaped building on the edge of town with 6 huge water tanks around the outside of it. 5 of the tanks hold the hot water supply (straight from the local hot springs) for the city of Reykjavik. In the 6th is a wax museum detailing the history and sagas of Iceland. It takes about half an hour to get through, and it's quite well done. Apparently all the figures in the panoramas were based on actual modern day Reykjavik residents which is interesting too... We also caught dinner on the observation level of the building and enjoyed the view while we ate.
Since I don't have as many other pictures crammed into this page, it's high time I show you some Icelandic money too. :) It's currently 70 some Icelandic Kronur to the dollar, so you can figure out how much each piece below is worth by yourself.
