the plot:
Wednesday was the day of the conference excursion. We went a bit over an hour northwest towards the Scottish highlands to see a few popular sights.
First stop was the falls of bruar, which were made famous by a robert burns poem 200+ years ago. Apparently the falls have a higher set and a lower set, and the walking path was only open up to the lower falls. Still, the forest walk to them was gorgeous, as were the falls themselves.
Next was Blair castle, the most visited castle in Scotland. It dates back to the 13th century. We weren't allowed to take pictures inside, but a lot of the decor was incredible.
Final stop was Queen's View, a scenic overlook over the local mountains.
