winter break 2006, Leg 3
Mobile, AL and New Orleans, LA... and back to TN again, january 4 - 9
the plot: the math association of america (MAA) and american mathematical society (AMS) hold a joint national math meeting every january, and this year the festivities took place in new orleans. since i'll most likely being interviewing for jobs at the 2008 joint math meetings, i wanted to scope out the scene a year early, visit with people, and enjoy the talks this year too. eric flew into memphis and drove down with me, making a detour to mobile to check out the USS Alabama battleship on the way south. then 4 days of math in new orleans... i was amazed that every time i turned around i ran into someone else who i'd met at other conferences, or other math events in a past life. it was a blast! post-new orleans, it was back to TN again...
