Committees

Political
Committee Chair :  Alexandra Acosta  ( enigmadali@yahoo.com )

The Politcal Committe focuses on issues that affect the Latino Community within Rutgers University and its surrounding community.

Current Accomplishments
  • The Political committee met several times throughout the semester to put together the Latino Student Council list of concerns that was delivered by the Male Co-Chair, Manuel Cabrera at a Leadership Banquet hosted by Vice President of Student Affairs, Emmet Dennis.
  • At the aforementioned Leadership Banquet,  the administration heard probably one of the most comprehesive declaration of Our concerns at Rutgers University.  Just as We have been uniting to put our issues together and present them collectively, so was the Latino Faculty working under the name of H.I.L.A.R.  H.I.L.A.R. put together their demands in the form of a letter written to the Rutgers University Senate, where Tom DeRosa (who had attended the Leadership Banquet) was appointed Co-Chairman of a subcommittee to specifically address the lack of recruitment and retention of Latino Faculty.  A first draft for a resolution was created and will be up for a vote next semester.  We have provided the final copy of the resolution for you to view as well.
