Da'wah Committee

Committee Heads -- Br. Wasif Huda, Sr. Nadia Sheikh & Sr. Miriam AbuShaban

Mission Statement

Assalaam alaikum wa Rahmatu Allah wa Barakatuhu

We welcome you back to a new year and hope all of you are in the best health and Iman. One of the many committees available this year as part of ISRU is the Dawah committee. Focusing on the spread of the knowledge contained within the religion of Islam, the Dawah Committee’s main goal is to relay this sacred knowledge to those who do not know, and furthermore to strengthen the Iman among us Muslims, who may already know. As Muslims we are blessed with a beautiful religion that teaches us how to live our lives in a meaningful way, worshiping Allah (SWT). Giving Dawah, an invitation to the guided path of Allah (SWT), is an obligation on every Muslim. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was a beautiful example in the way he (SAW) gave Dawah, peacefully, sincerely and logically. We must follow our beloved Prophet’s (SAW) sunnah in order to receive his Shifa’a on That Day. We have a graceful religion about which we are obligated to inform our community. And if we do not, who will?

Glorious Qur’an, 7.181
And of those whom We have created are people who guide (others) with truth and thereby do justice.

Glorious Qur’an 16.125
Invite (all) to the way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious; for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His path, and who receive guidance.

Ayah (Verse) of the Month:

"God! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory)."

(Surat Al-Baqarah 2:255)

Hadith of the Month:

Narrated by Abu Hurayrah: The Messenger of Allah said, "Let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day, either speak good or keep silent, and let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day be generous to his neighbor, and let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day be generous to his guest."
