Sisters' Activities Committee

Committee Heads -- Sr. Laila Halwani & Sr. Sumera Ansari

sis·ter·hood: 1. a community or society of sisters 2. the solidarity of women based on shared conditions, experiences, concerns, etc.

The Sisters Activities Committee at Rutgers University would like to take this definition a step further, inshaAllah. This Semester will not only give you an opportunity to interact with other sisters, an opportunity to make new friends, an opportunity to gain knowledge and learn from each other, but also an opportunity to partake in a fun-filled year packed with exciting events and activities.

The Sister's Committee has planned diverse activities that will inshaAllah bring together sisters of all majors and interests and will accommodate all schedules. These events include:

  • Once a month "hang-outs" to sit back and relax
  • Annual Sister's Night
  • Tutoring/Study Sessions
  • Updates on events at other universities in the area

Stay tuned for these events and more. We are looking forward to a great year Inshaa' Allah.

Ayah (Verse) of the Month:

"God! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory)."

(Surat Al-Baqarah 2:255)

Hadith of the Month:

Narrated by Abu Hurayrah: The Messenger of Allah said, "Let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day, either speak good or keep silent, and let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day be generous to his neighbor, and let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day be generous to his guest."
