Many people have asked this question and there have been many answers. Some say CCF is an outreach ministry, while others say it is an ministry to Christians. Some people say that CCF is a seeker-sensitive ministry, meaning we attract those who are interested in finding out about Jesus Christ. There have also been those who have said that CCF is church or even a social gathering, but what exactly is CCF?
First off, CCF stands for Chinese Christian Fellowship; it is a ministry whose purpose is to know God and make him known to those who don't know him, starting in the Rutgers Community. But what about the previous answers? CCF is a combination of all those areas.
It is an outreach and seeker sensitive ministry:
Jesus said, "Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" - Matt. 28:19. Jesus calls Christians to be His witnesses and to be a light to a dark world. For this reason, CCF is an outreach ministry. Our desire is to be used of God to save as many people as possible and this is done through outreach events and our Large Group meetings. The events and meetings are constructed in such a way where we are sensitive to the needs of people who are searching for answers about God. However, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is NOT watered down or compromised to do this. CCF's desire is to be all things to all people so that we may by all means save some-- 1 Cor . 9:22.
It is an inreach ministry:
Before we can win people to Christ, we need to be grounded in the Word of God - the Bible - and plugged into fellowship with other believers to be built up, encouraged, and energized in our faith. CCF has Small Groups (for more on SG click here), a mentoring program for underclassmen, prayer meetings, and Large Group meetings to cater to these needs.
It is not just another social gathering:
A social gathering is a gathering of people for the purpose of getting to know people and socializing. CCF is a gathering of people for the purpose of getting to know God first and then to know and care for other people. However, there many friendships are made and developed at CCF. This is only secondary to the relationship we have with God.
CCF is composed of these elements and by the grace of God, we hope to continue to press on in the call He has for our fellowship and as Christians.
It is not a church:
CCF is only a ministry and its purpose is to not replace the church, but to be a supplement to it. The ministry is comprised of people who attend many different churches. We encourage people to attend a local church and to be fed there as well. There are contacts for the different churches.
