Meeting 9/15
I just want to let everyone know that our meeting tomorrow will be in the Rutgers Student Center on College Avenue at 8 pm in room 407. We wanted everyone to be able to get the chance to know each other. One of our previous presidents, George Santos will be there to give a talk. We will have pizza and it should be a fun chill time.
More meeting info
The meeting this Wednesday the 9th will feature several speakers including Steve Lennox from the Democrats 2000 and representitives from Victory 2005 and the Corzine for Governor campaign. We will have pizza, pens and t-shirts availible. Also, if people are having trouble locating the Graduate Student Lounge, it is behind Au Bon Pain. There is an entrance located to the right of Au Bon Pain when approaching the student center from College Avenue.
First Meeting Time and Location Change, Walk with Corzine on Labor Day
I hope everyone had a great summer. With the gubernatorial election this year, there will be a lot going on this semester. Our first meeting will be this Wednesday, September 7th at 8 pm in the Graduate Student Lounge in the Rutgers Student Center on College Avenue. Please note that our meeting room and time have changed. Another email will be sent out with the details of the meeting shortly. Also, Senator Corzine will be walking in the South Plainsfield Labor Day Parade and is looking for volunteers to walk with him. Attached is more details about the event. I hope to see everyone at the next meeting.
Elections and Professionals in Politics panel
Our last event for this semester will be on Wednesday the 27th at Eagleton at 7pm. It is a career panel featuring professionals in politics. Anyone interested in having a career in politics should come to learn more about what it takes to work in politics. Such people in the panel include:
ALSO, our last meeting and elections are this Thursday, the 28th at RSC 411 at 9pm. Anyone interested is more than welcome to run for a position.
No Meeting and Take Back the Night
There will be NO MEETING this week because of Women's Take Back the Night that will be held Thursday, April 13th. RUDems is helping co-sponsor the event. The march will being at 7pm and only women can march followed by a rally held in front of Brower Commons which is open to both sexes. Come join us! Also, on Wednesday the 12th at 8:30pm Gideon Meir, Deputy Director General of Foreign Israeli Affairs will come speak at Scott Hall 123. He will address issues regarding American foreign policy towards Israel.
Women's Fair 3/28
We are sponsoring the "Breaking the Glass Ceiling" Women's Fair at Trayes Hall at DCC on Monday, March 28th at 7pm. Meet various women's groups on campus from women's health to various professions ranging from politics to engineering and sciences. Learn more about important women's issues and network with many social and political action groups. Let's all unite together in celebration of Women's History Month! Free food will be served and a live band will be featured. Hope to see you all there!

We have introduced a blog to allow members to comment on current events. It is availibile at http://rudems.rutgers.edu/blog/. Anyone who is interested in an account should come to our meeting on Thursday at 8 PM in the RSC so we can set you up.
The Big Chill
The RU Democrats is planning to field a team for the 2004 Big Chill 5K Run/Walk for Charity on December 11th. The entry fee is an unwrapped toy although additional monetary donations are welcome. The presents will be given to children in the area and the monetary donations will be given to the Middlesex County Food Bank. Check in is from 4 PM to 7 PM on Friday, December 10th or 7 AM to 9AM on Saturday, December 11th. The race will begin sometime after 9:30 AM. It is a lot of fun and it is a great opportunity to help out members of the community. More information can be found here.
2004-05 E-Board
The 2004-05 E-Board was elected at the 4/29 meeting. A new elected Secretary position was also created. Also, several of the appointed positions were filled at the meeting as well. Here are the results of the election:
