Hey all, get ready to start the new semester with RUPDS!

Our first meeting of the semester will occur on Monday February 13th at 8:30pm in the Busch Campus Center Room 117.

Please note that this meeting is starting at 830, rather then the usual 9:00 slot.

We will be hosting 4 New Jersey Dental School students who will share their experiences with us! This is a great opportunity to speak with dental students, ask questions, and learn about their experiences. Please arrive early because seating may be limited.

We hope to see you there!

RUPDS 2011 is off to a great start this fall semester!

In our previous meeting we had Mr. Eric Elmore from the New Jersey Dental Association come in accompanied by Dr. Ethan Glickman. Together, Mr. Elmore and Dr. Glickman shared lots of fascinating insights and advice to our members concerning dentistry! Those who attended were also lucky enough to be offered a ton of exciting involvement and volunteer opportunities by Mr. Elmore and Dr. Glickman! We can't thank them enough for coming!

On November 15 we hosted our very first soap carving competition! Pictures were taken of everyone's amazing designs and will be posted soon! Who knew we had so many talented members?

Make sure to keep an ear out for our last meeting of the semester and good luck studying for finals!

The Pre-Dental Team would like to thank everybody who came to our first meeting of the semester!

On Tuesday, September 9, RUPDS officially kicked off a new, exciting year for our society!

First, the executive members formally introduced themselves and the society. After that, the executive members clarified the required steps to get accepted into dental schools by going over the dental school "road map." Finally, the meeting was concluded with some ice-breaker games to allow everyone a chance to introduce themselves and to familiarize everyone with each other. The team hopes everyone had as much fun as they did!

Welcome to a fresh new year with the Rutgers Pre-dental Society!

The new executive team is eager to bring to you what will no-doubt turn out to be an amazing year full of fun activities, events, learning experiences and more! We hope you are as excited as we are!

So make sure to come to our first meeting of the year happening TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 20 at 9pm!

PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW LOCATION AT THE BUSCH STUDENT CENTER!!

That's right! This year we are happy to announce that all meetings will take place in the Busch Campus Student Center in ROOM 120A!

So make sure to be at the right place at the right time! We will be hosting discussions about the Pre-Dental Society, introducing ourselves and our executive team, the "road map" to Dental Schools, Trips, T-shirts and more!

Wow! What an exciting semester we've had and it still isn't over!

On April 12 we will be having admissions officer Dr. Healy from the VCU speak.

On April 21 Rutgers will be hosting its Annual Healthcare Symposium: Problems and Prospects of the Pharmaceutical Industry.

Hope to see you at both events!

Oh, and let's not forget...ELECTION NIGHT!!!!

On Wednesday, April 27 in Scott 203 at 9:10 members of the RUPDS will be given the oppourtunity to compete with each other for an official position on the 2011-2012 Rutgers University Pre-Dental Society Executive Board!

Candidates MUST be offical members of RUPDS (you must be recorded as having attended at least TWO THIRDS of RUPDS meetings)!

If you are eligible and interested, please send us an email (at rudental@gmail.com) with (1) your name, (2) your year, (3) the position(s) you are interested in running for and (4) a short statement regarding why you think you are a suitable candidate for that position. There is a limit of two positions which each candidate can run for! Positions include: President, Internal Vice President, External Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Webmaster and Public Relations. (note that only a current executive board member can run for the position of President!)

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS ARE WEDNESDAY APRIL 20!

Please note that candidates are expected to make a short (~2 minute speech) on election night to convince members to vote for them regarding each position they're running for!

Welcome to the Rutgers University Pre-Dental website!

The RUPDS had a great time Febuary 28 where we met with a representative from Kaplan who explained all the programs being offered to pre-dental students to help them prepare for the DATs! (Dental Admission Test)

We'd also like to thank Dr. Richard Kahn, President of NJDA, for visiting usMarch 7 and giving us an inspiring talk!

The RUPDS has more events planned ahead for this semester so save these dates!!

The RUPDS executive team hopes everyone had a relaxing vacation and is ready for another exciting semester! We have a lot of exciting things planned so check back here often to find the latest updates for meetings, events and announcements!

Speaking of exciting things, RUPDS will be at the Student Involvement Fair this Wednesday, January 26, from 11 am to 3 pm at the Livingston Student Center. Be sure to stop on by!

Additionally, there is still time to submit your ideas for our RUPDS T-shirts! We are looking for a clever phrase to be displayed on the shirt along with a design. If you have any suggestions be sure to email them using the email address located under the "Contact us" page.

Welcome to the Rutgers University Pre-Dental website!

A hearty thank you to all who showed up at our last meeting with Eric Elmore from New Jersey Dental Assosiation! We all had a great time listening to Eric's presentation and, despite a few technical hiccups, it was an informative experience! Information regarding to the "Give Give Kids a Smile" program which Eric discussed will be posted on our website at a more relevent date so be sure to check back here often!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1. RUPDS will be participating in Alpha Epsilon Delta's Health School Symposium this November 8th from 8 PM to 11PM in the Busch Campus Center Multi-Purpose Room. Please chek out and confirm your attendance at the event's Facebook page here. Come and meet with admissions officers from various professional graduate health programs! Also, Kaplan will be raffling off a FREE course for the DAT's, MCATs etc. so don't miss it!

2. The Rutgers CARE organization is conducting a presentation on Dental Hygiene for young children at Johnson and Johnson this upcoming Wenesday, November 10, from 9:30am to 12:00pm. A commmunity service organization with a great cause, Rutgers CARE has asked RUPDS for volunteers. Please email their sociaty at care.rutgers@gmail.com if you are interested!

3. We're still looking for T-shirt/slogan ideas so please email all creative suggestions to our email adress located on the "Contact us" page. Remember, if your idea gets selected you win a FREE T-Shirt! Now Get Crackin!

1. The search is now on for 2010's RUPD slogan and T-shirt design! If you can come up with the winning design or slogan which will be displayed on our awesome new T-shirts, you get your own T-shirt for FREE! 2. For all who are interested, Rutger's Career Services will be holding a PRACTICE KAPLAN DAT EXAM at Scott Hall, 10AM on october 23. If you would like to consider taking a practice DAT exam, check it out and register by clicking right here!

Welcome to the website for the one and only Rutgers University Pre-Dental Society!

Upcoming events!

On April 7th, Dr. Healy from VCU will be coming in to present to us in Hill Center 116 on Busch Campus.

April 12th is Dental Students night. Come out and chat with students at various stages of progress with Dental School. Scott 220.

April 24th is Rutgers Day and we have a table there. Talk to an officer if you want to volunteer to work at the table for a shift with us.

April 26th is Officer Elections night.

Last Meeting Coming Up
11/18/09

Come out to our last meeting for the Fall Semester on Monday, 11/30 at 9:10pm! Dr. Montemurno (Ortho) will be coming in to give a talk. Meeting logs are up from the past two meetings. Also, don't forget to bring $10 to reserve an RU Pre-Dental Society T-Shirt. Bring in cans for the Rutgers Against Hunger drive, and keep a look out for our first meeting in the Spring Semester!

New events coming up!
11/2/09

We have a lot of new, exciting things happening in the coming weeks! First, we are still collecting donations for our Rutgers against Hunger family (2 adults, 2 boys - 18 months and 2 months). We have the trip to Columbia on the 13th and we still have room for a few more people. Next, on that same day (11/13) we have Dr. Gerard Kugel, the associate dean of Tufts Dental, coming in to give a talk at 9am in LSH-A232. On the 16th, Dr. Jeffrey Linfante, the Director of Admissions and Student Recruitment at UMDNJ, will be giving a highly-anticipated talk on Nov. 16 at 9pm in Serc 118. The Health School Symposium is on the 17th of November, HERE is the facebook link for that for more info. Finally, our 11/30 meeting will consist of a talk from Allison's dentist, Dr. Montemurno, who specializes in Orthodontics. Check out the upcoming special events table at the bottom of the page for an easier-to-read list.

Our first meeting was a great success. A lot of members (both new and returning) came out and had a great time. We broke into groups and did some icebreakers to get to know each other.
