Big & Little Sibling Program

PsychAlliance, the Rutgers organization of psychology, is giving upperclassmen the opportunity to share their wisdom and experience with those not as experienced as they. Each Fall and Spring, freshmen, sophomores, and transfer students interested in psychology will have the ability to pair up with juniors and seniors who will be their “Big Brother” or “Big Sister”.

After being selected for this honor, through the application available on this website, you will meet your student (little sibling) at a Sibling Meet and Greet that will take place at the SAC (Student Activities Center) in the Riverside Lounge. You will be asked to provide your Rutgers email to the student so you can advise them. Simply helping them pick a schedule with relevant psych classes or helping them find a lab to get involved in, or clueing them into which classes you preferred is all that is required. This advisor position will not take much time- but it will be excellent to list on a resume or CV and it will be invaluable for those students who are trying to learn the ropes at this large university.

Requirements:
1.  To be a big sibling, you must attend the Big/Little Social on September 28th, 2011 at the SAC from 8:30pm-10:30 PM.
2.  At least three face-to-face meeting must be arranged throughout the semester.  You will coordinate with your assigned little to agree on a time and place.
3. Based on the little's concentration interest (as well as the big's) you must attend office hours for psychology professors and lead a discussion with the professor about future career options as well as research options.
4. Attendance will be taken during general body meetings as well as events. The big and little are allowed to miss two.
