Squash Racquets Developes The Most Complete Racquet Athelete!

In the early 1980s CBS sports decided to confront one of the oldest debates in the racquetworld which of the many racquet sports developes the most complete racquet athelete? The answer was resoundingly Squash Racquets! The tournament tested which of the basics common to all racquet sports - stroke production, footwork and physical conditioning when developed in any one racquetsport most enhanced performances in the rest. The 5 racquet sports tested were Tennis,Badminton,TableTennis,Racquetball, and Squash Racquets nearly all of which have a global presence. The tournament was based on totalling the points awarded to each player per "win" in 4 of the 5 racquet sports that were played by him. Each champion was excluded from playing his own sport. The player with the largest total won the tournament!

Squash was represented by Sharif Khan the North American Open Champion.Sharif won the Racket Master"s tournament in the 3 of 4 years that it existed.Because of qualifications to the original tournament rules in the fourth year i.e. exclusion of Squash from the program and Sharif from Racquetball the tournament was won by the US Table Tennis Champion.Tennis was represented by 3 of the 4 top ranked and legendary players - once each by Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe and twice by Guillermo Vilas.Racquetball was represented by the World Champion Marty Hogan and TableTennis and Badminton were represented by their respective US National Champions.

Although depth and numbers in competition are always a major factor in measuring any sport the Greatest Atheletes are Great unto themselves- and would dominate regardless of context. Squash Champions spanning generations are among this elite group and the "Khans" from the village of Peshawar proved this to the Global Squash Community over the last 50 years or so! Squash lately has also become recognized as surprisingly being the most physically demanding of sports in many tests where its inclusion was merely for representative sampling. These results have shown up in publications ranging from Soccer magazines to Forbes Magazine.Forbes Magazine published results showing that Squash was more physically demanding than any of 10 popular sports, including soccer, that were tested by Physical Trainers,Coaches and Atheletes.

And so the "Great Ones" from Squash like Hashim Khan,Jahangir Khan,Jansher Khan,Geoff Hunt and Heather McKay have more than included themselves with the likes of Pele,Mohammed Ali,Michael Jordan,Wayne Gretzky,Martina Navratilova and Rod Laver.
