What is Ultimate Frisbee? Ultimate is a fast-paced game played seven-on-seven on a field about the size of a football field. It combines elements of soccer, basketball, and football, but the great part is everyone gets to be the quarterback and the wide receiver! It is a non-contact sport that stresses good sportsmanship (what we call "the spirit of the game") above all else.
Ultimate at Rutgers: Shakti (our team name), Rutgers Women's Ultimate Frisbee, is a club sport at Rutgers University. That puts us in between varsity sports and intramurals. As such, we are student run and organized, but also enjoy playing against and traveling to other universities.
Who can play? Shakti is a university-wide athletic club, fielding players from all campuses. It is open to undergraduate and graduate students, provided that they are at least half-time students.
