A few digital pictures from this wonderful fighting event, wish we had more but we were having way too much fun to stop and take pictures. All were taken at the huge fighting field on the Paige Farm in northern Maryland.
While we always do some regular field battles and skirmishes, the really special thing about fighting at this site is the large castle wall, complete with a gatehouse with 'murder holes', crenellations, and other standard features of the most famous medieval force multiplier. Small groups can often hold the castle against much larger ones, tactics and distance weapons like combat archery become very important in castle scenarios. Someday we'll have to built a siege tower.... Click on the small pictures to see larger images, hit the back button on your browser to return.
Polish War, every group fighting every other
Polish War, after maybe five minutes of mayhem
Members of the Horse Guild watch the carnage
Who put this castle in the way?
'and your father smelt of...elderberries!' or 'Taunting 101'
A nice view of the entire castle wall, gate breeched
Archers have fun sweeping the walls clean of fighters
The Shire Reeve (no helm) observes the battle inside the gate
And then I hit him and then...
Have fun assaulting the castle?
Our castle! Ours! We want it back!
