Introduction
Walter Gropius was a German architect and the founder of the Bauhaus school. His legacy is considered to be the foundation of modern architecture or the International Style. During the construction of the Bauhaus school, Gropius encouraged his students to use modern and innovative materials that were mostly intended for industrial settings to create original furnitures and structures. His most important contributions to modern architecture include The Gropius House in Lincoln, Massachusetts, The Bauhaus School and Faculty in Dessau, Germany, Fagus Works in Alfred an der Leine, Germany and The Harvard Graduate Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts. By using materials and methods of construction, Gropius transformed building into a science precise mathematical calculations. As a result, every building was planned for maximum efficiency and simplicity.
